OUR PROGRAMS
YOUTH ENRICHMENT
NVCS' Youth Enrichment program is a safety net to prevent homeless and low-income youth from falling behind in their education. Most of our students come from households where internet and computer access are limited, if available at all. Our staff provides the technical support needed to utilize online learning platforms, one-on-one tutoring and homework assistance, plan enrichment activities and serve nutritious snacks and meals. In addition, our NVCS staff often support our parents who do not speak English by liaising with school administrators and teachers on their behalf.
NVCS CLASSROOM
With public schools remaining closed due to COVID- 19, “NVCS Classroom” was launched to provide a safe space, where our NVCS Kids can successfully navigate and complete their school’s online curriculum's.

NVCS YOUTH PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP
Photography is a great way to tell stories, share your interests, or just make fun, interesting pictures. The NVCS Youth Photography Camp course focused on the basics of good digital photography. NVCS Kids received iShare cameras to put their talent to work. Our participants used computers in our NVCS studio that were equipped with Adobe Photoshop Elements for photo editing.
"I’m a strong believer in using the camera to express yourself—think of it as 'visual communication,'" said David Blumenkrantz, CSUN Photojournalism Professor and NVCS Youth Photography Camp instructor.
PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE MAKING
NVCS Kids visited the Pacoima Mural Walk & the Griffith Park Old Zoo to capture their photographs.
